The Edale Skyline is one of the most popular circular routes in the whole of the Peak District National Park. A stern but rewarding walk, it weaves its way through rolling hills and rugged moorland before finishing in some beautifully picturesque valleys. Scenic walks along this route offer the opportunity to scale two of the area’s most famous peaks: Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District and Mam Tor, which offers stunning views and interesting geology. The Route
Your day begins at the crack of dawn when we leave Manchester, taking a trip all the way to Edale. A quick introduction will be done, a safety briefing, and then you are off onto the Edale Skyline route. It is an 8-10 hour hike depending on your pace, together with the weather conditions. You’ll see panoramic views of surrounding hills and valleys as you make your way across stunning landscapes, which makes every step worthwhile.
Summit of Kinder Scout The first main highlight of the day will be the summiting of Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District offering breath-taking views for as far as the eye can see. Although the ascent can be a bit tricky, rest assured our guide will make you feel safe and motivated throughout the clamber. Once you reach the summit, take a while to enjoy the breath-taking scenery and take some memorable photos.
Once we make our way down from Kinder Scout, we continue onto Mam Tor. Referred to as the “Shivering Mountain,” Mam Tor is renowned for its geological features and breath-taking panoramic views. Although the climb is challenging, it offers a panorama from the top of the surrounding countryside. It’s an ideal stop to take in a packed lunch and enjoy the beauty of the Peak District
